About this design
Under each date sits a capsule whose length is that day's daylight, from sunrise to sunset, calculated for 52° N (UK, Ireland, Benelux, Germany, Poland) or 40° N (much of the USA, Spain, Portugal, Italy). Across the year the bars stretch out towards midsummer and shrink again towards winter, coloured from dusk blue to warm ochre. Weekends in terracotta.
Four versions are included: 52° N or 40° N, each with a Monday or Sunday week start. A useful and calm piece for a home office, kitchen or hallway, and a thoughtful New Year gift.
